What is aesthetics in dental treatment?

Dental aesthetics is a special treatment of dentistry that combines the health and appearance of the teeth. An aesthetic treatment will focus on making the dentition as perfect as possible, aligning the teeth, checking the crowns in case of implants, restoring a broken tooth and more related to the appearance of the teeth.

Even so, dental aesthetics continues to have a medical goal, since it is about creating harmony between the teeth. Dental aesthetics is not going to be changing a tooth because you don't like it, but it is going to place dental crowns because the natural tooth no longer responds to its function.

What are the dental aesthetic treatments?

The aesthetic dental treatments are:

- Orthodontics

- Teeth whitening

- Cover crowns

- Dental veneers

- Dental bridges

- Aesthetics of the gums

When to resort to cosmetic dentistry?

The reasons that lead a patient to resort to aesthetic dental treatment are usually due to fractures, dental wear, malpositions, different coloration, gum problems, cavities...

What is the difference between cosmetic and dental aesthetics?

Cosmetic dentistry is going to focus on one aspect of dental appearance more on the surface of the tooth, for example, fixing the shape of a tooth by just accounting for appearance. While dental aesthetics requires more depth, since it will change the position of teeth with dental treatments for one that is in harmony with the dentition.

What are dental crowns or veneers?

Crowns are artificial teeth made of porcelain that are going to be placed on the implants, it is a filled tooth, while veneers appear only on the front of a tooth. Crowns are an excellent alternative to deal with fractures in the tooth or gaps in the tooth due to cavities or dental pathology.

Choosing between veneers and dental crowns

It is not that difficult, since dental crowns are actually chosen immediately after undergoing dental treatment such as implant surgery, for example. Veneers are placed to cover and leave an aesthetically correct tooth surface, but they do not cover the back, while crowns have a true shape on the tooth.
